Our client engaged us to design their North American headquarters with an emphasis on collaborative spaces and sustainable materials. The program includes an open-plan workspace, private meeting rooms, commercial kitchen, and laboratories for research and development. The planning for the project takes its cues from the existing structure of the building. Throughout, the waffle slab ceiling is exposed and considered in the new design as interior walls were planned to align with the existing grid. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure was carefully coordinated to follow the module of the structure to feel integrated, rather than retrofitted. Natural materials and finishes are incorporated into the design, nodding to the ethos of the client and their products. Along with the perimeter windows, custom planter boxes/benches provide additional seating while underlining the central role of plants to the tenant’s brand.
