Our clients saw opportunity in renovating this ageing home in a desirable area of Coastal Connecticut. A winemaking couple from Oregon with East Coast roots wanted to make the leap back to Connecticut after spending several years building their business in Oregon.
Their home reflects the growing family’s priorities. As prolific hosts, they wanted to show off their extensive wine collection. A former garage was converted for this purpose. On the ground floor, a new in-law suite gives them flexibility to host, while preserving their privacy and their guests.
The main floor is one storey up, due to the irregular grade of the site. New finishes throughout this area lend the home a contemporary feel, while staying in tune with the home’s original charm.
On the top-most floor, an existing turret was converted into a home office, offering a tranquil getaway for focused work, perched above the Long Island Sound.
