This apartment a stone's throw away from Flatiron Plaza was an exercise in getting the most out of an old unit with good bones. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit had plenty of space, but the layout had inefficient closets: too much storage that wasn't working hard enough.
A simple upgrade to a stacked washing machine and dryer unlocked a much more efficient layout. The appliances, which used to be in a cupboard off the kitchen, now face the living space - a more central and functional location. In the owner's bedroom, a walk-through closet created issues with flow for the owners. The new design rationalizes the layout so that there is a generous walk-in closet which is next to the restroom. Each has its own door, improving the layout of the entire suite.
Both bathrooms were upgraded with a simple but bright tile, giving each its own energetic character. In the owner's bathroom, a full-height ribbed glass walls with his-and-hers shower heads helps make the most of a tight space, making the entire room feel luxurious, functional, and private.
